EEOC EXCEL CONFERENCE JULY 26-30 TO FEATURE TOP FEDERAL OFFICIALS

OPM Director, EEOC Acting Chairman to Make Presentations

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) will hold its annual federal sector EXCEL (Examining Conflicts in Employment Law) conference from July 26 to 30 at the New Orleans Marriott Hotel.  EXCEL is the premier national federal sector law conference and the most comprehensive of its kind examining contemporary equal employment opportunity issues and other workplace topics.  The multi-day interactive and educational program features eight plenary sessions and more than 50 workshops.

Participants -- ranging from EEO managers, supervisors and specialists, attorneys, human resource professionals and union officials -- will receive information on recent developments in employment law and changes in agency procedures. 

EEOC Acting Chairman Stuart Ishimaru will deliver opening remarks on Monday, July 27, at 8:45 a.m.  Other highlights that day include a presentation by John Berry, Director of the Office of Personnel Management; and a disability panel presentation led by EEOC Acting Vice Chair Christine Griffin.

Other conference highlights include a program by EEOC's Office of Legal Counsel on the recently enacted ADA Amendments Act and the Genetic Information Non-Discrimination Act, and two specialty tracks – one for Hearing Preparation and one for Advanced Mediation and Negotiation Skills.  Brand new to the EXCEL Conference is the SES Track; workshops designed specifically for the Senior Executive Service.  Again this year, the conference will feature the popular Hispanic Employment Program Manager's (HEPM) Summit, HEPM Best Practices and the HEPM Town Hall Meeting.
