Victoria Mesa-Estrada

Meeting of April 15, 2015 - EEOC at 50: Confronting Racial and Ethnic Discrimination In the 21st Century Workplace

Victoria Mesa-Estrada is the founding partner of the law firm Mesa-Coe Law, P.A. Victoria provides legal services to individuals, not-for-profit organizations and private businesses in matters related to employment law, immigration and family law. Prior to starting her own practice, Victoria worked for the Migrant Farmworker Justice Project at Florida Legal Services, providing legal representation to undocumented and migrant workers in employment law, employment discrimination, worker's compensation and civil rights matters.

A native of Colombia, Victoria immigrated to the U.S. in 1992. She graduated from St. Thomas University School of Law in 2008, and also holds a Master of Laws (LL.M) in Intercultural Human Rights, cum laude. In 2002, Victoria earned her Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and International Relations from Florida International University, and received an Undergraduate Certificate in Latin American and Caribbean Studies with concentrations in South American Studies and Caribbean Studies.

Throughout her years of work, Victoria has been an advocate for migrant workers, small minority farmers and working families. She spent over 10 years in the not-for-profit sector working for human rights, international development and civil rights organizations including Colombian American Service Association, People for the American Way Foundation, and Oxfam America. Her advocacy and policy work has extended nation-wide and overseas advocating for the reform of national agricultural and trade policies that affect vulnerable populations in America and around the world. Her experience has also permitted her to deepen her understanding of how institutional discrimination has prevented racial, and ethnic minorities from fully participating in society and fully enjoying their social and economic rights. To this day, Victoria remains actively involved in many of these social justice campaigns.

Victoria is a member of the Florida Bar and of the Southern, Northern, and Middle District of Florida. She is fluent in Spanish and French.
