ay Medicar Transportation, LLC will pay $70,000 to resolve a sex discrimination lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today. The EEOC sued Jay Medicar in March 2010 on behalf of female employees who alleged they were sexually harassed by a senior manager.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) today announced that it is suing a Utah medical clinic for workplace discrimination.  The EEOC charges that managers for Salt Lake Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center, LLC created and perpetuated a hostile work environment for employees based on national origin discrimination and constructively discharged one of the employees.  The lawsuit is filed on behalf of two victims.

Town of Clarence and Western New York Fire Companies Settle EEOC Age Discrimination Suit

The Town of Clarence, N.Y., and the Clarence, Harris Hill, East Amherst and Swormville Fire Protection Districts and Volunteer Fire Companies will pay $441,740 to settle a class age discrimination lawsuit brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.  The damages will be made in retroactive payments to a group of 35 firefighters, including the beneficiaries for eight deceased firefighters who had been discriminated against based on their age.  Several firefighters will also receive increased monthly pension amounts going forward.

EEOC Sues Hampton Inn Franchise for Race and National Origin Bias

A Hampton Inn franchise in Craig, Colorado, owned and operated by Century Shree Corporation and Century Rama, Inc. illegally terminated employees beginning in August onwards because of their race, Caucasian, and national origin, non-Hispanic, according to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) in a lawsuit filed by the agency September 29, 2011. The EEOC complaint also alleges that the two companies violated federal recordkeeping laws when they failed to archive and preserve employment records for at least one year so that the agency could properly investigate the charges.

DHL Global Sued by EEOC for Harassment and Intimidation of Hispanic Workers, Retaliation

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission announced today that it has filed suit against DHL Global Forwarding for subjecting a class of Hispanic employees to national origin discrimination.  The EEOC's suit also alleges that DHL Global unlawfully retaliated against a non-Hispanic employee by firing him for reporting the treatment of Hispanic employees.
