EEOC Sued Fred Fuller Oil Company for Sexual Harassment and Retaliation

Fred Fuller Oil Company, a Hudson, N.H.-based oil company, violated federal law when Fred Fuller, its owner, sexually harassed two women, caused the constructive discharge of one, and fired the other, her close friend, in retaliation for the first woman indicating she intended to file a claim of discrimination, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it filed today.  This lawsuit is the second time EEOC has sued the company because of Fuller's sexual harassment and retaliation.

RockTenn CP, LLC formerly known as Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation, discriminated against an employee with a disability at Smurfit-Stone's Latta, S.C., facility and then unlawfully fired him, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit filed yesterday.  RockTenn CP, LLC acquired Smurfit-Stone in May 2011.

EEOC Sues Chipotle Mexican Grill for Disability Discrimination

Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc., a Colorado-based nationwide restaurant chain, violated federal law when it fired an employee because of her cystic fibrosis and its treatment, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it filed today.  The EEOC said Chipotle subjected Amanda Connell to disability discrimination at its Franklin, Mass., location the day after she arrived at work with a shunt in her arm for the intravenous treatment of cystic fibrosis.

EEOC Issues Final Rule Revising Freedom of Information Act Regulations

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) issued a Final Rule today revising certain provisions of its Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) regulations.  EEOC's revised FOIA regulations, 29 CFR Part 1610 ("Availability of Records"), incorporate provisions of the Openness Promotes Effectiveness in Our National Government Act of 2007 (OPEN Government Act), and the Electronic FOIA Act of 1996 (E-FOIA Act).  The Final Rule also reflects the Commission's transfer of FOIA responsibility from its Regional Attorneys to its District Directors.  The rule was published in the Federal Register on June 19, 2013.

Federal Court Allows EEOC Disability Case to Proceed, Denying United Parcel Service's Appeal

A federal district court has denied United Parcel Service's (UPS) motion to appeal an earlier ruling in favor of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency announced today.  The contested ruling allowed the Commission's disability discrimination case to proceed to the discovery phase.  (EEOC, et al., v. Trinity Protection Services and CSI Corp. To Pay $42,000 to Resolve EEOC Discrimination Lawsuit

CSI Corporation of DC will pay $12,000 to resolve an EEOC lawsuit alleging pregnancy discrimination, unlawful medical inquiries and retaliation, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission announced today.  This is in addition to the $30,000 already paid by Trinity Protection Services, Inc. to resolve its part of the lawsuit. Trinity and CSI will also provide equitable relief as part of the settlements.
