Crothall Healthcare Sued By EEOC For Pregnancy Discrimination

A Wayne, Pa.-based company providing support services to several Little Rock-area health care institutions, violated federal law by discriminating against an employee because of her pregnancy, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it filed today.

Choctaw Transportation Company Sued By EEOC For Race Discrimination

A Dyersburg, Tenn., company violated federal law by refusing to hire a class of African-Americans for deckhand positions because of their race, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it filed on September 9, 2010. The EEOC also charged that Choctaw maintained segregated job assignments and failed to properly maintain its medical and personnel records.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) today announced it has filed an age discrimination lawsuit against Thomasville City Schools based in Thomasville, N.C.  The federal agency charged that Thomasville failed to hire Arlene Lent for two assistant principal positions because of her age in violation of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA).

Kaze USA, Inc., doing business as Kaze Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Bar in Garner, N.C., discriminated against a Muslim employee by failing to accommodate her religious beliefs and firing her because of her religion, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit filed today. Kaze is a traditional Japanese-style teppanyaki steakhouse where food is prepared at the customer's table.

Restaurant Group Ordered to Implement Sexual Harassment Prevention

MILWAUKEE – A federal judge has entered final judgment in a sexual harassment lawsuit brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) against Flipmeastack, Inc., an Illinois-based restaurant company that manages a group of IHOP restaurants, the agency announced today.  The restaurants were owned by franchisee Salauddin Janmohammed.  Flipmeastack is owned by Salauddin's wife, Victoria Janmohammed.

Twenty years after the Americans With Disabilities Act ("ADA") was enacted, the Houston District Office of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has filed two separate lawsuits to enforce the ADA, demonstrating the on-going relevance of and need for the law in today's workplace. The ADA prohibits discrimination against employees and employment applicants with disabilities, including those who are regarded as disabled by their employers, and those who associate with persons who are disabled.

Finch Air Conditioning Settles EEOC Lawsuit for Sexual Harassment of Young Female Employees

Finch Air Conditioning and Heating, Inc., located in La Porte, Texas, has agreed to pay $80,000 to settle claims of sexual harassment and constructive discharge of female employees brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, Houston Division.  In the suit (Civil Action No. 4:09-cv-03156), the EEOC alleged that female employees at Finch were routinely subjected to sexual harassment and discrimination in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, one of the civil rights/employment discrimination statutes the EEOC is charged with enforcing.
