EEOC Sues DHL for Segregating Employees by Race

CHICAGO - The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) today filed a race discrimination lawsuit against DHL Express, Inc. on behalf of a class of African-American employees who were given different job assignments because of their race.  The EEOC received more than 20 charges of discrimination against DHL alleging that the shipping and delivery giant discriminated against black workers.

EEOC Sues Marvin's Fresh Farmhouse, Inc. For Racial Harassment, Race Discrimination, And Retaliation

Marvin's Fresh Farmhouse, Inc., a family-owned restaurant located in Mt. Pleasant, N.C., violated federal law by subjecting Darick Alsbrooks, an African-American employee, to racial harassment and demoting him because of his race, and then discharging him for filing a charge of discrimination, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit filed today.  The lawsuit also alleges that Marvin's Fresh discharged a white employee, Michelle Johnson, because of her association with Alsbrooks.  Finally, the EEOC claims that Marvin's Fresh violated federal law by failing to post or display information regarding federal anti-discrimination laws as required by Title VII.

EEOC Sues Cost Cutters Hair Salon For Retaliation

Tomlin Hair Care, Inc., doing business as Cost Cutters Family Hair Care, unlawfully fired hair stylist Pam Hairston for complaining about an assistant manger's racist comments, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) alleged in an employment discrimination lawsuit filed today. The company operates 14 hair salons in the southwest Virginia and Knoxville, Tenn., regions and employs approximately 90 employees. Hairston worked at the defendant's salon in Martinsville, Va.

Courtesy Building Services Sued by EEOC for Sexual Harassment

Courtesy Building Services, a janitorial and maintenance service located in West Dallas with an office in Fort Worth, violated federal law by subjecting a female employee to sexual harassment, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit announced today.  The EEOC alleges that as part of the unlawful work environment, the employee was pressured to marry a stranger from Thailand to promote his efforts toward citizenship.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced today that it has filed a discrimination lawsuit against Smile Brands of Texas. L.P., formerly known as Bright Now! Dental Association, L.P., doing business as Monarch Dental Associates, L.P. which operates a practice in Burleson, Texas, alleging that two female employees there were subjected to a sexually hostile work environment by the lead dentist.

Dillard's Sued By EEOC For Age Discrimination

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) today announced it has filed an age discrimination lawsuit against department store chain operator Dillard's, Inc. The suit alleges that Dillard's discriminated against Virginia Keene when it discharged her from the position of area sales manager at its store in Cary, N.C., because of her age, 61, in violation of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA).

Moving and storage company Lawrence Transportation Systems, Inc., violated federal law when it refused to hire a job applicant because of his religion, Rastafarian, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a workplace discrimination lawsuit filed today. Lawrence Transportation, headquartered in Roanoke, Va., has approximately 276 employees.
