David G. Bowman

Partner, Morgan, Lewis & Bockius

Meeting of October 31, 2018 - Revamping Workplace Culture to Prevent Harassment

David Bowman conducts and manages diversity consulting projects, independent investigations, and workplace training programs for firm clients. As the director of Morgan Lewis Resources (MLR) Workplace Training and Consulting, David leverages his experience as a former human resources professional and a labor and employment litigator and counselor to bring unique and valuable perspectives to his clients' daily challenges related to workplace diversity and inclusion, employment law compliance matters, and workplace ethics. David is admitted to practice in Massachusetts only.

David's nontraditional legal practice provides world-class services to many of the largest companies in the world. Having trained and consulted on the ground in Africa, Asia, Europe and North America, he brings a unique global perspective to his work and the services that he provides to his clients.

International in scope, David's interactive training and consulting services are available globally via in-person training, webcast, and self-paced eLearning. Clients include public and private employers from almost every industry. He has co-managed one of the largest Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) conciliation training agreements where his team trained more than 100,000 employees over a two-year period. In 2018, he and the broader MLR group delivered training to more than 45,000 employees for a single client.

In his more traditional labor and employment practice, David has represented clients in a variety of legal proceedings including trials, dispositive motions, hearings, preliminary injunctions, and depositions. He also has represented employers in employment discrimination and wrongful discharge cases in federal and state courts, and before government agencies such as the EEOC and the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination. For 12 years, David also served as a faculty member of the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination's training certification program. Clients often seek his counsel on issues relating to training, workplace training, and workplace investigations.

David's background in labor and employment began well before he started practicing law, and includes working in human resources for Pepsi-Cola Co., where he supported approximately 1,700 union and nonunion employees.
