Valenti Chosen as New EEOC Miami District Director

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission today announced that Paul Valenti has been selected as director of the federal agency’s Miami District Office, effective March 1.

Valenti has served as director of Pinellas County, Fla.’s Office of Human Rights since January 2012.  Before his tenure with Pinellas County, Valenti served as the manager of Lee County, Fla.’s Office of Equal Opportunity -- a position he assumed in June 2005.  Prior to working for Lee County, Valenti served with the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities.

Valenti is a graduate of the University of Connecticut and Quinnipiac University School of Law.  He is licensed to practice law in Florida and Connecticut and is admitted to the bar of the United States Supreme Court.

“Paul Valenti brings a wealth of talents and experience to the EEOC,” said EEOC Chair Charlotte Burrows.  “Florida is a booming, vibrant state, and with that comes the kind of challenges that we at the EEOC face every day.  I am confident that Paul will well serve the agency and the people of Florida, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.”

Valenti said, “I am thankful for this opportunity to join the EEOC, and look forward to joining with my colleagues in the Miami District Office to continue the Commission's important mission of preventing and remedying unlawful employment discrimination and advancing equal opportunity for all in the workplace.”

The Miami District Office has jurisdiction over most of Florida, with the exception of the western portion of the Panhandle, along with the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The EEOC advances opportunity in the workplace by enforcing federal laws prohibiting employment discrimination. More information is available at www.eeoc.gov. Stay connected with the latest EEOC news by subscribing to our email updates.
